Join us in the beautiful Chicago Metro Area for two days of in-person learning!
Managing what we do and say while building personal relationships is complex. Both require a foundation of self-awareness, social interpretation, and problem solving. This 2- day conference will focus on rethinking the role of educators in a) how we teach social skills and concepts in schools, b) what we really mean by the phrase, “just behave,” and c) how to support building friendships. On Day 1 we will explore practical lessons for specific social emotional vocabulary, visual supports & strategies for developing social & self-awareness and regulation. On Day 2 the course is twofold: in the morning we will reframe common misperceptions about what is mean by a “behavior problem” and explore using proactive strategies for building self-awareness and self-regulation rather than correcting behaviors punitively. In the afternoon, we’ll focus on visual supports and perspective-taking activities for sparking students’ motivation and teaching them tools for building friendships or relationships to meet their social goals.
Important Note: This is our first in-person conference in nearly three years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As always, the health and safety of all attendees is our priority, so availability/seating is limited. Our live conferences can sell out well in advance. Please register and receive your confirmation number BEFORE booking travel arrangements. We’d hate for you to show up and not have a seat!
